Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This Privacy Policy explains how SocialSpot ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application and this website (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
SocialSpot is operated by the SocialSpot team. For privacy questions, contact privacy@gosocialspot.com.
2. Information we collect
Account information you provide. When you create a profile, you give us a name (or nickname), age, gender, who you're interested in meeting, an optional short bio, and a profile photo. If you sign in with Apple, we receive a stable Apple-issued identifier and — only if you choose to share it — your email address.
Location. With your permission, the App uses your device's location — precise (GPS-level) while you have the App open, and coarse for Nearby / Map features — to show you people and Spaces near you and to place you on the Live Vibe Meter. You can turn location off at any time in iOS/Android Settings, and you can hide yourself entirely with Ghost Mode inside the App.
Content you create. Messages, Waves, Spaces you host, chat messages you post at a venue, votes you cast in the Live Vibe Meter, and any custom text you attach to a promoted Space.
Purchase information. When you buy a subscription (SocialSpot Plus) or a one-time upgrade (Boost, Featured, Sponsored), Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive a receipt confirming the purchase so we can grant your entitlement. We never see or store your credit card, Apple ID, or Google account details.
Automatically-collected data. Session tokens (so you stay signed in), impression / click counts on promoted Spaces (used only to show their creator how many people saw their placement), coarse device model, and crash diagnostics. We do not use third-party trackers or advertising SDKs.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not run targeted advertising inside the App.
- We do not share your precise location with other users unless you're Live at a venue — and never with third-party data brokers.
- We do not read your messages except when required by law or when a user reports a specific message for moderation.
4. How we use your information
- To operate core features (Radar, Map, Waves, Spaces, DMs).
- To verify in-app purchases with Apple and Google.
- To keep the community safe: moderating reported content and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To communicate service updates. We do not send marketing emails.
5. Sharing with third parties
We share limited data with a small number of service providers:
- Apple & Google — receipt validation for in-app purchases, Sign in with Apple, push notifications.
- Hosting & infrastructure providers — the servers and databases that store the data described above. Their access is limited to operating the Service.
- Government or law-enforcement requests — only when compelled by valid legal process. We will notify you unless prohibited by law.
6. How long we keep data
Profile and Space data are kept until you delete your account. Real-time location (your "presence" at a venue) expires within minutes of you leaving. Analytics counts on promoted Spaces are retained up to 24 months. Moderation reports and audit logs are retained up to 24 months for safety purposes.
7. Your choices
- Ghost Mode — hide from Nearby, Map, and public presence lists.
- Read Receipts — turn off in Settings.
- Location permission — revoke any time via iOS/Android Settings.
- Delete your account — inside the App: Me tab → "Delete account permanently". This removes your profile, messages, waves, Spaces, DMs, blocks, reports, votes, and any active promotions you own.
8. Children
SocialSpot is intended for users 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn we've collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
9. International users
SocialSpot is operated from the United States. If you use the App from another country, you consent to your information being processed in the U.S.
10. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of "sales" or "shares" of your personal information as those terms are defined by California law. We do not sell your personal information. To exercise these rights, email privacy@gosocialspot.com.
11. European users (GDPR)
If you're in the EU, UK, or EEA, our legal bases for processing are: contract (to provide the Service you asked for), legitimate interest (safety and fraud prevention), consent (location, push notifications), and compliance with law. You have rights to access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and objection. Contact privacy@gosocialspot.com.
12. Security
We use TLS in transit and encryption at rest for our databases. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong device passcode and enable two-factor authentication on your Apple / Google account.
13. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we'll notify you in-app or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the new policy.
